The Port of Bremerton’s Dominion Historical Tugboat is undergoing restoration. The Dominion Historical Workboat Association (DHWA) is looking to offer the community educational opportunities, trade skills and hands on advancement with historical oceanic programming.
DHWA’s goal is to call attention to training of diverse groups or individuals in the maritime industry and work in partnership with scholastic research institutions, community colleges, and universities.
The Dominion (formerly the Army Tug LT-366 and then the Patricia Foss) was built in the Pacific Northwest at Grays Harbor Shipbuilding Company of Hoquiam, Washington. She was launched in May of 1944. The Dominion was commissioned by the U.S Army for service during World War II and is a 61 Miki class tugboat. Only three of this class are known to have survived to date.
